Memorial Day
Three days ago, on the last Monday in May, Americans commemorated the fallen soldiers of the Civil War. Union General John A. Logan established this tradition on May 30, 1868.
Memorial Day is an occasion to decorate the graves of Civil War soldiers with flags, flowers, and other items.
This year, Griotreporter was privileged to attend the celebration in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, the United States. The event, held on Broad Way Street in the town center, commenced at 10:00 am, marking a solemn and respectful start to the day.
Here are some of the key highlights of the event.
