King of Bavaria: Chronicles of Ludwig II.
I felt compelled to write about a king whose castle I visited in Germany during one of my trips to Germany. I am genuinely grateful for the opportunity provided by Krones West Africa under Helmut Rumm’s leadership. Vividly, I remember when he told us that we had the chance to travel anywhere we could legally go, as traveling is an integral part of education. He also encouraged us to explore as much as possible, reminding us that it might be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for some. “What stories would you have to tell if you restricted yourselves?” he asked.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my direct boss, Johan Scheepers, whose unparalleled support and dedication to all the service engineers was unprecedented. Thank you, sirs, for making me see this incredible story to tell.
Early Life of Ludwig II
Ludwig II of Bavaria was born on August 25, 1845, to Maximilian II of Bavaria and Princess Marie of Prussia. Ludwig II was named after his grandfather and godfather, Ludwig I. In his younger years, Ludwig enjoyed the arts. He enjoyed drawing, making model buildings, and dressing in costume to act.
Ludwig II and his parents
In 1864, following the death of Maximilian II, Ludwig ascended to the throne of Bavaria at the young age of 18. He had no political experience, and during his reign in 1866 occurred the Seven Weeks War, where Bavaria and Austria allied against Prussia, and they lost.
